Episode 74 – Six Lessons I’ve Learned from Observing Bugs
Sometimes inspiration comes from the unlikeliest places. Would you believe there is a connection between dung beetles, existentialism, Sisyphus, and Albert Camus’ absurdism? How about garden slugs? What inspiring message can they bring us? You’ll have to listen to this week’s show to find out. Then, this week’s Let’s Get Physical looks at drinking and exercise. Make sure you tune in!

Show Notes:
Since this week’s show consists mainly of original content rather than reflections on pre-existing articles or sites, there is somewhat less material to put here into this week’s notes. Despair not though, because there’s still some neat stuff to be seen.
First, if you’re interested in knowing more about what Albert Camus had to say about the story of Sisyphus and the absurdity of life and existence, you’ll want to check out his essay entitled The Myth of Sisyphus. The original is, of course, in French, but the link here is an English translation of it.
As I mentioned on air, I was inspired by Microcosmos, a 1996 film by Claude Nuridsany. An older film now, yes, but still beautiful, and masterfully filmed and set to music. Here is the official trailer:
As an added bit of silliness, I thought I’d add a photo that appeared on a website, Vintage Ads Blog, showing the type of ant farm you could buy from the backs of comic books back in the day. Probably a better buy than sea monkeys though, I imagine.
Finally, here’s an article from The Economic Times talking about the Czech academic study on wine consumption and exercise. Interesting findings there.
