Episode 85 – HAPPY New Year (With Emphasis On Happy)

Get the New Year started right with a brand new episode of Happy Road! On this week’s show, we set the theme for the year: happiness, including a special musical portion, and some feel-good stories that’ll give you hope. Then, on Let’s Get Physical, we get back to basics!

Show Notes:

Starting the year on a happy note, we look at some interesting questions about happiness. Like which is more important: Truth… or Happiness?

I also talked about blessings in disguise a little bit. Confucius say… Losing horse may bring good fortune.

In addition, if you’re interested in this Chinese fable set to song, Derek Sivers did a neat rendition of it. Here is the MP3 file of it if you heard it on this week’s show and wanted to add it to your collection. (Note: the song is hotlinked, so you’ll probably want to right-click on the link above, and select “Save As…” to download it to your computer.

Then, we have some happy news stories to make your week. Like this one about a pizza shop in Philly that gives away free slices to the homeless. By the way, before I saw this on HuffPo, I saw the same story on NPR with a few slightly different photos of the shop.

Even Ellen got a hold of this story and featured it on her show.

Also, the story of a young, Muslim grocery clerk who helped save the lives of people he didn’t even know, and got rewarded with French citizenship for his efforts.

Finally, even though this 17 year-old was being booked into jail over some serious charges, it didn’t stop him from doing the right thing and saving a police officer’s life.
