This week, learn how to think like a mushroom, develop strategies to recharge depleted willpower, and get ahead of the competition with some cross-training tips. It’s an episode not to miss!

Show Notes:

For those of you who have been wondering about some of the equipment necessary to record a podcast, here is one of many equipment guides. Much of what is mentioned here is what I use here at Happy Road, and can be bought for only a few hundred dollars.

Even though the original article has got basically nothing to do with the show, it was the source of inspiration for one of the segments. If you have a burning desire to learn more about mycology, have at ‘er!

Here are a couple of Forbes.com articles related to the topic at hand… Learning how to read people better, and strategies to be more agile and responsive to your environment. A more general article talks about the difference between responsive and reactive, and Malcolm Gladwell also enters the fray with his book on this topic, Blink.

Here is a great 42 minute video on microexpressions from Vimeo that you can watch if you’re interested in the concept.

David McRaney did a recent podcast episode on willpower depletion, so you can listen to that… Alternatively, just do a Google search for “ego depletion.”

Entrepreneur.com ran an article on 5 Ways to Boost Your Willpower (which may not involve eating cookies), but nonetheless, made some good points.

Finally, Men’s Fitness ran an article on Cross-training and its benefits. Check it out! It may help you break out of a fitness rut.
