Show Notes:

The main segment this week was inspired by the following entry on Lifehack.com. You may click through if you’re curious to know more about the source material they used, including some of the peer reviewed scientific journals from where they pulled the data.

One of my favourite authors and researchers is Oliver Sacks. His book, Musicophilia, is a wonderful work, and highly recommended if you have interest in topics like synesthesia, and what goes on inside the brain when we listen to music.

If you’re looking for some new, inspirational music, Lifehack.com has a list of 30 such songs that you might want to consider. I don’t agree with all of their picks, but it did inspire me to make up my own list, and listening to some of theirs prompted me to recall some songs and artists that I really enjoy.

Then, be sure to check out jog.fm for a song database that lists pieces by BPM, so you can put together that perfect running or cycling mix.

My favourite source for running music is Podrunner. This is a long-running podcast by DJ Steve Boyett. He’s the best in the business, and offers a large library of constant BPM techno music. And do consider giving him a bit of support with a small donation, as very few people do, and I’m one of the many who really, really love to see him produce fresh, new content.
